Pearl Fisher and Cannibals

Alessandro Allori’s Pearl Fishermen

Read what Leonardo da Vinci had to say on the techniques of the pearl fishers of India, and about cannibals, hunting men of other islands, in my Leonardo da Vinci’s Travels to the East. (And what did he mean by saying »India«?)

(and no, I never did propagate the hypothesis that Leonardo da Vinci did travel physically to the East; others did – and I am also explaining in my book how and why and what philosophers and poets made of it; but is it not interesting enough that the very idea was a brainchild of historic Leonardo himself, who imagined himself, in a first-person eyewitness account, travelling to eastern regions, thus travelling in his mind?)
